Husband. Father. Mentor. Award-winning producer and director who built a legacy that helped shape sports television.

Ralph as a young man

A New Yorker

From Queens to the world stage

A real New Yorker from the get go, he spent his youth in and around the city, eventually moving with his parents to Ozone Park, Queens where he grew up listening to 45 records from the emerging rock 'n' roll scene of the Sixties.

While attending Queens College he solidified his passion for rock and blues guitar by forming several bands with his brother and local friends, playing gigs in the smoky dives around the New York City area.

The Love of His Life

Meeting Sandra

It was at one of these shows that he met the love of his life, Sandra D'Alfonso, and the two of them soon married and eventually settled down over the Hudson River in the idyllic suburbs northwest of Manhattan.

Loved & Revered

A mentor to those who followed

Ralph was loved and revered by his peers and colleagues, many of whom looked up to him as a mentor. His longtime collaborations including 15 years of World Cup Skiing, 17 X-Games, and a decade as ESPN's Collegiate Track & Field packager were defined as much by relationships as by the work itself.
